RAY OF BRANCHES


My goal for this project was to create an etheareal and rustic wooden lamp that illustrates the embodiment of branching out with the illumination of light. 

Ray of Branches represents peace and illuminates a glow that personifies the beauty of nature. I designed this as a gift for some I care about deeply. This person is very vibrant and branches out to everyone to ensure they’re okay. The humor and organized chaos they emit is how I’d describe their natural glow. I wanted their charisma to be embodied by the lamp itself, while perserving the concept of nature’s beauty.

PROCESS



I created a template on Adobe Illustrator that I fully laser cut on maple plywood. The pieces are all individual and can be assempled or taken apart as one desires. With a wash of wood glue mixed with water, I managed to perserve the carbon black along the edges of every wood piece by sealing it with a paintbrush.
