Menstrual cramp relief designed to make women look good and feel good.

Understanding Menstrual Pain
Menstruation is a natural biological process where the uterine lining is shed through the vagina on a cyclical basis.
Menstrual pain, also known as dysmenorrhea, typically occurs before or during a period and can range from mild to severe. The pain is commonly felt in the lower abdomen. The pressure can gradually spread, leading to other complex physiological changes that can affect an individual's physical and emotional state, known as PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome).

Heating Pad Design
Targetted every pain point mapped on the lower abdomen to ensure even heat distribution for menstrual relief. I explored different forms, and noticed a silhouette of a sting ray followed the contours. “Ray” is defined as a source of warmth and energy. A “Sting Ray” is an oceanic creature that symbolizes strength beneath the surface.

Compression Band Design
This acts as a vessel to insert the heating pad discreetly and portably under your clothes. This band adds an extra layer of heat emitted by sustainable and washable fabric. To add extra compression, the medical band can be wrapped around the body and curve to suit a wide range of body types.

Holistic Medicine Research
“Herbal and holistic methods offer cyclical support for menstrual health, easing pain while helping people reconnect with their bodies.”

Consulting with a professional herbalist, I discovered the correct herbs, spices, seeds and natural oils necessary to create a holistic, body-activating heating pad. Together, we researched cataplasms, a mass of natural minerals insulated in a contained, skin-safe cloth.
Herbs

-Anti-inflammatory compounds
-Natural muscle relaxants
-Hormonal balance
Seeds

-Rich in magnesium
-Regulate estrogen levels
-Natural heat retention
Spices

-Antispasmodic
-Reduces bloating
-Eases muscle contractions
Natural Oils

-Abdominal massaging sensation
-Soothes the mind and body
-Aromatherapy

To create this, I dehydrated all the dry ingredients to activate the anti-inflammatory and heat retaining properties. Next, I used a mortar and pestle to evenly mash all the minerals mixed with natural mineral oils.
