A simple case reducing plastic waste, designed to fit all iPhone generation

Impact

Design Intent

The widespread use of plastic phone cases presents a significant environmental issue due to their long decomposition time, piling up in landfills for decades. As consumers upgrade their devices, cases are overly discarded, contributing to a continuous cycle of waste and an increased carbon footprint. My redesigned phone case proposes a way to adapt one case to future IPhone generations, and decrease plastic material within the case itself.

Inspiration

I explored the elasticity of a rubber band. It binds and releases without losing its structure. This shift between tension and resistance informs how this simple object is able to adapt while still maintaining structure.

In the context of anatomical use, a rubber band demonstrates strength beyond simple stationary use. Its behavior is both malleable and adaptable in scale. This flexibility and single-use material allows it to be resized for multi-use purposes.

Design Goals

Shockproof engineering that targets each pressure point to keep the phone safe from any impact.
Long-lasting, durable material that molds to any existing IPhone generation, allowing you to upgrade and keep using the same case.

Sustainable process that contains less single-use plastic, which makes it easier to recycle.
System available to ship back to us to be recycled, then we send you a new case, no extra cost.
